A Letter from the Pastor

Happy New Year! I hope that you are getting used to the fact that 2012 is here.  I pray that this changing of the calendar dives you an opportunity to experience anew the wonders of God's love.  The beginning of the year is always a great time for me to reflect on the work of the past year and pray about the plans for the next.

As we go forward into this year we have several monumental tasks to take on as a church.  We are going to be setting up a new small group ministry during this year.  The goal will be to have all of our members involved in a small group for spiritual growth and accountability.  If this alone was accomplished, 2012 would be a great year in the life of our church.  However, we also have some new outreach areas that we will be getting started.  For the next seven months, we will be working toward getting an after school tutoring center opened.  We will also be training mentors to work with families in poverty and walk with them as they escape the cycle of poverty.

For one of these three things to be accomplished, it would certainly be a great year in the life of Hartford FUMC.  All three of them together seem a little overwhelming (at least from my office they do).  We must remember that our God will be the one that accomplishes this work.

As we move forward this year I ask you to be in prayer for our church and continue to seek God's guidance for our next steps.
