It's
officially summertime, although it has felt like summer for the
past two months. Summer vacations and family trips are
already underway. If the summer schedule and vacationing
hasn't gotten you in a more relaxed mood then the heat has
probably driven you to a cool place. Things are always a
little more laid back in the summertime.
During this laid back season, it is easy to let things
slip up on you and you can find yourself unprepared.
This newsletter is late because the pastor wasn't prepared
before he went on vacation. I also realized this
week that I have gotten a little lax and let another of
our summer possibilities catch me unprepared. I'm
absolutely not ready for hurricane season. We've had
our first named storm and I don't have enough batteries to
turn on a radio.
I said after hurricane Ivan that I would never be
unprepared during hurricane season again. So for
hurricanes Dennis and Katrina our family was set and
stocked up on all the necessities. But it's been a
few years now since we've had a major storm so I've let my
guard down and I'm not prepared.
Speaking of being prepared, our mission trip to Costa Rica
is this month. I hope all of the team members are
prepared by now, because we leave on the 9th. I
personally want to thank everyone in the church for
helping this team along the way. I believe everyone
has done something to support and prepare this group for
the trip. There is one more thing that I would ask
of you as we depart. Keep these individuals lifted
up in prayer.

Being prepared and not letting things slip up on you would
be a good sermon topic. Speaking of sermons, I've
got to go get one of those prepared for Sunday.
