March is here and it seems like the year is
finally getting a proper beginning. The beginning of
spring weather several weeks before the equinox is always
welcome as far as I'm concerned. People are getting
out and stirring around a lot more then they were just
three short weeks ago. The trees are bursting forth
with life and much pollen. Signs of life are
appearing where the tones of gray and brown were once
dominant.
It feels more like a new year now than on
January 1st with all kinds of new things beginning to take
shape. As the calendar advances we have some new
things and some old traditions coming around. First,
this March we are taking our confirmation class to Blue
Lake for the Bishop's Confirmation Retreat. Be in
prayer for our students as they study and begin to make
decisions about their relationships with Jesus Christ and
His church.
Lent also begins this month and with that
we have 50 days of reflection on our own relationships
with Christ. Some of you will try new things as you
go through lent this year. Some of you may even give
up something as an act or sign of your devotion.
Whether you give up things for lent or not don't miss a
great opportunity to spend some good quality time on
self-reflection and personal devotion to God.
Blessings and Peace
