With Ash Wednesday the season of Lent began. Some came for
the imposition of ashes, many have placed crosses in their yards,
and some have even given up some luxury or a part of their normal
daily routine for the remainder of Lent. There are many
expressions developed throughout church history that have come and
gone, but their primary purpose remains the same. This
season is a time of repentance, reflection, preparation, prayer,
study, and growing in grace; that we might be strengthened and
more authentic in our Easter faith.
As we put aside the shortcomings, failures, and sins of the past,
let us take upon ourselves the mission and will of Christ Jesus
our Lord. While we are going through the Lenten season my
prayer for each one of you is that you would be strengthened and
grow deeper in your understanding of Christ's sacrificial death.
So let us move through this season and find ourselves renewed on
the other side by the presence of the resurrected Lord in our
lives.
Blessings,
Rev. Jimmy Cook
