A Letter from the Pastor

It is hard to believe that November is already here.  The calendar is always pretty full in November; however, it has always been one of my favorite months.  A lot of things change in November.  Election Day is this month so we all have an opportunity to bring change in our state and nation.  We go back to standard time this month so don't forget to set your clocks back at 2:00 am on the 7th.   Even though it would please me to see some personnel changes after Election Day, these changes have nothing to do with November being a good month.

Thanksgiving is in November and it seems like that changes everything.  Thanksgiving officially begins the Holiday Season.  Immediately after Thanksgiving, we turn our focus to Advent and Christmas.  It is during this time that the attitude of our whole country seems to change.   Everything gets more festive and we tend to get in a more celebrative mood.  Yes, Thanksgiving changes everything.

As Christians, we need to realize that thanksgiving changes everything.  When we give thanks to God for all that He does, many things change.  However, what changes most is probably within us.  Our hearts change as we express our thanks to God and as our hearts change, our attitudes change.  As our heart and attitude change, we become more considerate and more compassionate.  Then, the next thing you know, we are reaching out to our neighbor and meeting some kind of need.

I truly believe that thanksgiving changes everything.  So as we celebrate Thanksgiving this month, let us all give thanks to the Lord our God for all that He has done in our lives.
