Where in the world did the summer break go? It is hard to
believe that school is starting back next week when it seems like
students just got out for the summer. I hope you had a great
summer and had an opportunity to relax a little. AS school
starts back we also get back to our regular programming at church.
We will resume our regular Wednesday night schedule on August
25th.
There are several new things that we will be offering this fall.
First, we will be having a dinner on Sunday night, August 15th at
5:00pm in the fellowship hall. Following dinner, there will
be a mission presentation from the Costa Rica Mission Team at
6:00pm in the sanctuary. Everyone is invited to come to
dinner and to hear about the mission trip experiences.
We will have a new Sunday School class beginning in September.
We will announce the exact starting date later this month. I
will be leading the class which will meet in the fellowship hall.
We will begin with some of the basics of what we believe as
Christians and specifically as United Methodists. There will
also be an opportunity for class members to ask any questions they
may have. We will spend some time every week dealing with a
few of the top questions.
The "Experiencing God" class will be offered on Thursdays at 6pm
beginning September 2nd, Larry Summers will be leading the course.
It is a fourteen-week commitment that will be well worth the time
if you have never gone through this study. If you would like
to attend, please call the church office and sign up for the
course.
I'm looking forward to upcoming events in the life of our church.
Every time we start a new study or class it gives me an
opportunity to spend more time with some of you and to get to know
you better. I hope to see you in church this fall as we
serve the Lord together.
Blessings,
Rev. Jimmy Cook
