Hartford Fun Day**
April 21, 10am until 2pm
Hartford First United Methodist
church didn't invent fun, but we're going to perfect it on April
21, 2007. I am excited about the opportunity that we have to
promote good clean Christian fun in Hartford at our first Fun Day
in the Park, to be held at Hartford's Radford Park.
Fun Day in the Park has been
born out of the Long Range Planning Team of our church.
Under the guidance of the Holy spirit, this team began to dream
about a community event that would pull people from across the zip
code together: white and black, rich and not so rich, young and
not so young. Baptist and Methodist, single and married,
childless and children. We envisioned a gathering with
music, fun, and games that anyone would enjoy. Thus began
the planning for Fun Day in the Park.
After a year of preparation and
planning, the Fun Day team has developed what is sure to be the
most fun day of the year. There are 18 different activities
planned that are sure to get you excited. You may not be
interested in all of them, but you'd have to be just about dead to
not be interested in at least one!
- *Kite making
*Face Painting
- *Water Balloon Launch
*Egg Toss
- *Parachute games
*Casting contest
- *Slow Pitch Home Run Derby
*Archery contest
- *Horse Shoe Contest
*Sack Race
- *Three Legged Race
*Frisbee Golf
- *Balloon Dart Pop
*Dunking Booth
- *Golf Chipping contest
*Tug of War
- *Basketball Free throw
contest
- *Inflatable games for the
small children
At each station, ice cold
bottled water will be given out as a gift from our church to the
thirsty participants. (We take seriously Jesus' call to feed
the hungry and give drink to the thirsty.) Hamburgers,
hotdogs, nachos, snacks, candy, and soft drinks will be available,
and all proceeds will go toward new playground equipment for the
children at Radford Park. At the closing, special music
groups will perform for our entertainment. So far, at least
76 people have made a commitment to working this Fun Day in the
Park. Most have already been busy making preparations for
this grand occasion.
Still there are some things that
you can do:
- Share the word.
Invite some friends to come be a part of the fun.
- Remember, this is for
everyone.
- Pray for safety and good
weather!
- Come.
- Thank those folks who are
working to make this day a success.
I'll see you there!
