  THOUGHT FROM THE HEART

What May Means
May means Mother's Day. May means graduations May means that April showers have brought today's flowers.  May means that Easter has come and gone.  May means that Alabama turkey season is over (woe is me).  May means that Hartford Fun Day has come and gone.  May means that Paul Ferrell has finished his second full year of service here at the Hartford First UMC.  May means that Jamie Sorrells begins her fourth full year as our administrative assistant.  May means that I am finishing my third full year as pastor here.  May means that Gabe will finish his first year of school.  May means that Paul and Samantha Pollard enter their first full month of marriage.  May means grass cutting.  May means heat.  May means Memorial Day.  May means many things.

What does May mean to you?

I hope that May can be a month of "may" for you.  I don't know how each month got it's name.  While the week days got their names from Norse mythology, out month names are much more complicated.  I don't pretend to understand all the history and etymology.  However, I do hope that May can mean something for all of us.  I hope that the month of May can be a month of permission to be who God wants you to be.

May God grant you peace this month.

May you find the strength to stand up for someone helpless this

    month.

May you reconcile with an old friend this month.

May you forgive yourself for that thing that has been haunting

you in your nightmares this month.

May you start a new good habit this month.

May you quit a bad one this month.

May you find the courage to finally answer that special call

of God on your heart this month.

May you love your children a little more this month.

May you share your affection with your parents, siblings, or

spouse in a new way this month.

May you pray a little more this month.

May you keep you chin up this month.

May you have a "may" month of May.
