  THOUGHTS FROM THE HEART

  God Lives Here

Last Saturday, the children of our church enjoyed an Easter egg hunt at Louise Holman's.  Pictures were made.  Fun was had by all.  The rain even held off for two mare days (keep praying for more rain.)  It was great.  Out of all the fun, there is one story I would like to share.

Upon seeing the "Easter Bunny", a.k.a. Trey Holster, enter Louise's home.  Landon Adams said, "I didn't know the Easter Bunny lived here."  Another child chimed in, "He doesn't." At which point, Hudson replied, "Yea, he probably lives in Dothan."  Wow.  Kids can say the most observant things.  First, he realized that Hartford was a "small" town.  Secondly, he equated importance to size.  Everybody shops in Dothan.  Certainly the Easter Bunny must live in the big city, according to child logic.

We know that size does not matter.  We are more concerned about the spiritual health of our congregation and the outreach that happens as a result than we are with size.  So, the question begs to be asked.  "Where does God live?"  Hmmmm.  Does God live in our hearts?  Does God live in our church?  Does God live in heaven?  Where does God live?  Does God live in the big churches? The Methodist churches?  The Baptist churches?  Where does God live?

God lives among us in our work, in our study, in our devotions, in our prayers, in our needs, and in our abundance.  God is present wherever our lives are committed to seeking God's plan for ourselves.  God lives with us in our heartache and our joys.  God rejoices with our triumphs and weeps with our sorrows.  God lives among us.

Do you need to feel God's love?  Come be reminded of God's love here at Harford First United Methodist Church because God lives here.  Do you know someone that needs to feel the power of Christ in their lives?  Bring them into the ministry of the Hartford First United Methodist Church, because God lives here.  Are there people that need to find a place in God's kingdom?  Bring them to the door and ask if they can "play", because God lives here.  God lives here and our lives are fulfilled here.
