What are you doing to "feed the people?"
I recently saw a photograph of a young child
that made me laugh. It showed a one year old baby and a
Great Dane together. The baby had his head in the dog's food
bowl, while the big dog just watched. What are we eating?
What are we waiting for? Who's watching?
What are we eating?
Worship feeds your soul. Baptisms
and confessions of faith continue to energize our worship.
Families are proclaiming God's victory in their lives during our
prayer and praise time. We are always trying to make our
worship services more relevant, more powerful, more faithful, and
more inspiring. Basically, we are trying to be more
nutritional and tasty, spiritually speaking.
Study feeds your mind. We offer a
variety of Bible studies, Sunday School opportunities, and small
groups for you to feast on the Word of God.
Missions feeds your body. Jesus
said, "My food is to DO the work of Him who sent Me." (Jn4:34).
In "doing", we feed our body's need to be used for service.
We are striving to offer more service opportunities for you in
2007.
What are we waiting for?
Now is the time to serve. Now is
the time to commit to life changes. Now is the time to be
faithful because the Kingdom of God is a kingdom that exists here
and NOW! don't wait until you can afford to give.
Don't wait until you have a little more free time to serve.
Don't wait until you have had a little more space to forgive.
Now is the time to feed our body, mind and spirit. When
Jesus fed the 5,000, He fed the people where they were, right
then. The disciples thought it would cost eight months'
wages to feed them. Jesus made it clear that all they needed
was what they already had. We estimate that it will cost us
$285,248.81 to do the ministries God has called us to in 2007.
Won't you commit now, to help us serve?
Who's watching?
God is. The people of Harford are.
The unchurched are. The rest of the world wants to know what
you will do with your prayers, presence, gifts and service.
During our November 26th worship service, you
will have the opportunity to commit yourself to serve Christ
through the ministries of the Harford First United Methodist
Church. Following worship, we will have a covered dish
supper to celebrate God's blessing on us and our commitments to
God. Won't you join us as we join the feast of the gospel on
November 26th?
