DRIVING DIRECTIONS

The last Laity Banquet and Rally for 2006 will be held on October 30 at Hartford 1st UMC.  The program will be by Dr. Herb Sadler, District Superintendent, on Church Growth and Evangelism.  The meal will be served at 6 p.m. and the program will begin at 6:45 p.m.  The cost of the meal is $5 per person, paid at the door on the date of the banquet."

These are the words printed in our last district newsletter.

I want to celebrate with you what this means for our great church.

1.) We get to showcase the extraordinary blessings that God is pouring out here in Harford.  We will have the opportunity to share our perspective of the "what, why, and how" God is using and calling our church.  Churches from around our District (covers Samson to Eufaula) will come to learn how to grow like us.  I say like us because currently we are a rare church: we are growing.  We ARE baptizing children AND adults.  We ARE seeing confessions.  We ARE growing in numbers (worship attendance, membership, finance, Sunday School and missions spending).  We are doing this as a country church.  These other churches want what we've got.  Let's share it.  I will be calling on some of YOU to share what is happening here.

2.)  We get to serve.  This is just one more way to serve Christ's church.  We will serve the meal, offer hospitality, and share God's love with other churches (some that are struggling).  I WILL be calling on some of you to organize our service.

3.) We get to celebrate the ministry of other churches.  We can learn from their successes and celebrate how God is using them.

4.) We get to hear Dr. Sadler.  He is a great speaker, leader, and motivator.  I always enjoy his messages and am always challenged by his preaching to do more and become more.
