THOUGHT FROM THE HEART

Remember the Fire
A Spiritual Renewal Retreat

"Heading to Montgomery last week, we packed the kids into the car and drove up 167 out of town. I glanced down to check my gauges. Oh-oh. My temperature gauge was climbing straight toward the redline. I pulled over and popped the hood. Steam hissed from the front of the car. The radiator had burst, and I could see the hole. I LINCed Rich Brannon on my cell phone/radio and he towed me back to town.

We need radiators to keep our cars from running hot, don't we? We need aspirin to take our fevers down. We need freezers to keep the ice cream from melting. We need to keep things cool. Yet, our spiritual lives are not among those things.

How hot is your spiritual life running? Do you remember the fire and excitement of our early days in the faith? Did you ever think you could change the world? Are you still passionate about sharing the gospel? Is your spiritual temperature gauge running hot these days, or cold? Do you feel the fire of the Holy Spirit burning in your bones or has it been cooled by the icy waters of Murphy's Law?

On May 28th, from 8:30 - 3:00, our church will offer a spiritual renewal retreat called " Remember the Fire." There will be five speakers from our church, including J.J. Hughes, Annie Lee Riley, and Grace Reagan. We hope you will take time our of your busy schedules and consider your journey of faith. We will examine our individual testimonies. We will reflect on our first realizations of God's love for us. We will consider our calls to ministry and how God has carried us through some rough places. I believe that everyone who comes will "Remember the Fire" and rekindle the fire of the Holy Spirit in their lives and the life of the church.

Go ahead and call the church office to make your reservations for "Remember the Fire."
