“Go therefore and
make DISCIPLES of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, TEACHING them to observe all
that I commanded you. ~ Matthew 28:19
I am so proud of the
excitement that this church has expressed in taking Disciple Bible
Study. We have had 26 people say that they are interested in taking
this course this year. Some folks are still curious about what
Disciple is and what this course will look like. So, let me address
some of the most frequently asked question about Disciple.
- How
long is it? Disciple is a 34 weekly meeting will take about 2
to 2 ½ hours. That comes to about 76 ½ hours of meeting during
the study. Wow! What a fellowship opportunity.
- How
much work is involved? Let me be honest. It takes diligence
and effort to do Disciple Bible Study. Roughly 70% of the Bible
will be read during these 34 weeks. It takes daily reading and
study time. Some people are faster readers, while others are
slower. I think that success in reading comes through commitment,
not speed. Once a week will not be enough to keep up. This study
is designed to help the student learn the Bible, its themes, its
message, and its call to ministry in the lives of disciples.
- When
will we meet? Wednesday Nights 6:00 - 8:30 pm
- What
will the meetings look like? Each week we will have prayer
concerns, a short video segment from a respected teacher, small
group discussions, and breaks.
- When
do we start? September 1st and
run through May. This allows for weeks off at Thanksgiving,
Christmas, New Years and Easter.
- How
much does it cost? The cost of the course is $33, which covers
the cost of the workbook. That comes to just under $1 for each
lesson. Not bad, huh? Our church does not want cost to prevent
someone from taking the course, so please call me if that is a
concern.
I have enjoyed teaching
Disciple before and am even more excited about teaching it in this great
church in this great town. Invite a friend! You don’t have to be a
Methodist to take this course. Please, if you have any questions, don’t
hesitate to call me. I look forward to our work together. In the
meantime, keep this vital ministry in your prayers and thoughts. See you
there!
